On Monday, September 21 at 7:00 PM, we welcome the incredible Las Guaracheras from Cali, Colombia to The Outpost Performance Space.
Las Guaracheras bring a vibraphone-based, vibe-driven approach to salsa and Afro-Latin music, music built around rhythm, feeling, improvisation, and the energy between the musicians and the audience.
Their sound draws from salsa, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, and Colombian Pacific traditions, while connecting to the rich history of Latin music and the vibraphone-driven sounds associated with artists like Tito Puente, Cal Tjader, Joe Cuba, and Ray Barretto.
But Las Guaracheras aren’t simply looking backward. They take those influences and create something fresh, contemporary, and distinctly their own. The sound of the vibraphone adds a beautiful melodic dimension to their music, giving their salsa a texture that stands apart.
